We have a timer based call to a small midlet in our midlet suite that uses the Java Bluetooth API to see if another device is in the area. We have the timer set to run as frequently as every 20 seconds. Our concern is that in emulation using Nokia’s MIDP 2.0 SDK, everytime we call this midlet it interupts the current display.
This is fine if the phone is closed or just sitting on a desk, but what if our user is playing a game or looking for an address? So two questions:
1. How will the 6600s application manager handle timer based calls if another application is running—be it a current phone call, a Symbian app, or another Midlet?
2. Is there a way to make a timer based call completely in the background without affecting the screen or any other applications?
