Hi Chandu,
Thank you very much for your message. It's very helpful. I have one more question. Under 'Max jar file size' of the data form, is the value of size, for example 60Kb, the limit for one jar file or for all jar files together?
Best,
JohnMobile
Hi john,
I think its Size of Midlet suite.(But not 100% sure).

Chandu
That value is for one midlet suite (one jar), but there are other limitations: max. memory for all midlets or max. number of installed midlets.
Hi...,
I think the que was Is that
The value given there is for one midlet suit or for one JAR file..
Midlet suite can contain one or more than one midlet and there is restrictions on number of midlet and max size of midlet in that perticular Suite ...Right?

As I know: 1 jar = 1 midlet suite = 1..n midlet.
But I have run a midlet bigger than 70KB in a Series 40 (6800).
Note: The transfer is over IrDa, not Over The Air

YC
Did you transfer the jad and jar, or only the jar?
Shmoove,
For the Nokia S40 (6800), I transfer both the Jar and Jad.

Thts amazing if u cud download a 70k file on Series 40 (6800),but thn whn u make an application for 40 series , it shud run on all 40 series phone, i think this 70k will not be supported by other 40 series phones.
psm78,
I totally agree with you. There's a reason why the spec sheets mention the maximum jar size allowed.
Since the GPRS connection over here in my country is pretty "buggy", like frog crossing highways (some make it, some don't), I guess the smaller the file, the safer it is for the transfer to complete. :-P
Should always stick to the spec sheets.
In any case, network operators might just impose their own limitations on the allowable midlet size, which might make life more difficult.
Cheers
YC
Need to clarify the below statement:
Nokia Series 40 phones has a limitation of 64KBytes over OTA transfer.
Nokia Nokia Series 40 phones has no limitation of file size over InfraRed transfer (except for storage limitation).
Is is true? Anyone?
Thanks
YC
Hi
Nokia 40 Series phones has a limitation of 64 KB of file size be it OTA or infrared.
Psm78,
I just managed to transfer a 70KBytes JAR file to my S40 6800, using IrDa, although it doesn't run properly because it's originally meant for S60.
Anyone care to shed some light???
Thanks,
YC
