What are the guidelines for creating note icons?

Note icons are 50 x 50 pixels.
The note icons have a background which consists of a 30 x 30 pixel gradient colour block. This colour highlights which note type is in question. Roughly speaking, notes can be divided into serious error notes, information and confirmation notes, and progress notes.
The colour coding is used to differentiate between notes: a red gradient is used for error notes when data are about to be lost or corrupted; a yellow gradient is used when user attention is needed, and a blue gradient is used when the system provides the user with information on an ongoing process, that is, information of a useful or positive nature.
