need help on getting started

Hello,

I am just starting out with the nokia PC Connectivity SDK and would like to confirm if my phone and choice of cable are correct before purchasing the data cable.

MY phone is a 6610 and I am going to purchase the DKU-5 data cable. This cable connects to the PC's usb port. Will the Connectivity SDK allow my VB application to connect to the phone through the DKU-5 usb cable, or must I connect to the COM port using another type of cable?

Also, the DKU-5 cable is over £35, are there any cheaper alternatives.

Yes!
* The DKU-5 cable is the right one for the 6610
* You can also connect to the phone with this cable and the SDK
* It works also with VB.

Check out Ebay. I have just bought a USB to pop port cable - identical to the DKU 5, it also came with a ringtone/application/games CD. it only cost £9.95
