Series 60 Emulator doesn't show anything

Hi,

I'm a total newbie to Symbian programming and I'm trying to make my first steps.

After having several troubles to compile helloworld I now reached the stage where the emulator should come into play.

The "Getting started" PDF shows a picture of the emulator, displaying several folders (in the emul.) including "Other", where my app should reside.

However, when I start the emulator, the display come's up, showing nothing else than a big
"Series 60" at the bottom of the emulator-screen and eats up all my CPU.

Anyone any idea what I did wrong ?

OK, looks like I was too impatient.

The Emulator comes up after some minute and half,
but the only thing it says is
"Program closed: StarterServer !!!"

When I press OK to that, then the only thing that remains in the emulator display is the antenna-symbol.

Which is not really helpful.

(After this the epoc32 does not consume CPU-time so I do not expect anything more to come)

You have S60 SDK v1.2 with a non-default installation directory, right? Then have a look at this: http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...threadid=25166

And the emulator comes up much faster too.

Any idea, In which file can I find the quoted
"2. Known defects" ?

I'd like to read that, before posting any next
stupid question.

(I found Java-Programming for S60 easier, even if I had some fights with different SDK-Problems there too - but these I could solve myself).

It's the ReleaseNotes.txt in the SDK zip archive.
