How to calculate the Length Of SMS

Hi All!
As we know, we can use "AT +CMGS" Command send Text Message,but in PDU Model ,The Command syntax is
AT+CMGS=<Length>,,,PDUString.....
The Question Is which number i can fill the <length>!
And How to calculate it!(my english is every silly)
