An MMS external application can be installed:
1) within the telecom operator environment, or
2) in a remote server which must be accessible via Internet

In both cases, the external application communicates the MMSC via MM7 interface using SOAP messages.

Yes, you are correct. Interface protocol can also be EAIF in case of Nokia MMSC.
