Why are the fonts so large in NOKIA devices ?

I´ve developed an application with J2ME MIDP 1.0. I´ve realized that with SIEMENS and MOTOROLA devices the font size is such that it fits in the device´s display. But with NOKIA devices they don´t fit. The implementation broken the lines ! For instance, an List element, a line, with about 10 charactes doesn´t fit in one line in the device´s display. But with other manufacturer it does.

Is it possible to setup the default font size for NOKIA devices ?
How can I do that ?

I´m testing with NOKIA 7210 emulator !

fonts are drawed wrong on emulator (7310).I use builtin fonts (FONT.SIZE_SMALL and PLAIN) and on emulator and they are rendered very big and bold. On phone they are display correctly (small and thin). Trust me... I gave up my fonts and won some space..
