Is there some system property that returns phone's IMEI ?

The real question is about protecting midlet from copying from one phone to another. If I can't find out any phone-specific information (like imei) the only way left is online-registration. Am I right? Then, if I do so, and store userid in RMS can it be simply copied to another phone or edited on PC?

That is one area where poor java implementations help us out. The RMS's seem to be so unstable and propritary that you can probably rely on the casual/semi-seriuos thief not being able to get into the RMS. RMS stores are not copied when MIDlets are transferred.

you could do a reverse sms biling depending upon whether you have that type of relationship with a carrier
