    Through the JNI, I can use the API's Symbian's DBMS, and create Java programs that have access Symbian's DBMS?

    MIDP/CLDC does not support/Impl the native JNI interface.
    Please read the MIDP/CLDC specification.

    right now its not possible as has been said..the reverse is possible though..where u can have a Symbian app and it can talk to the J2ME application..
    but i think sun has come up with a file API which can let u access databases and all..but i dont think any phone has implementation for that as yet..probably in the next feature pack.Nokia will put that provision which will be sometime mid of next year..

    But that file API wont be part of MIDP ..
    it might be available in Java Phone or Personal Java ..
