File Associations

Good Morning all,
Well i am new to Symbian programming, and Series60.

My first task is to implement a video player, using a properitary video codec and file type.

My question is:
Given that i can associate files with application, and Nokia Forum replied to a previous question on this topic, stating that you can do this using the AIF build system and MIME types.

What special steps do i need to take from within my application?
How do you actual do this in the AIF build file?

Is there a tuturial/white paper on this?

If not i think it would be a very useful document to have.
