i have VS .net 2003 installed and i downloaded Series 60 SDK v1.2. However i could not manage to install it. In Quick guide for Wizard installation (i think it is for VC++ 6.0 ) it is written that:
"Copy AvkonAppWiz.awx and AvkonAppWiz.hlp files to Visual C++ template directory e.g
c:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\Common\MsDev98\Template"
but i dont have that directory. where should i put these files? is there anyone using MS VS .NET 2003 & Series 60 SDK v1.2 ? Or should i better change my IDE or SDK?
phone model is not very important for me. i am looking for a good IDE for Symbian programming for series 60. Which IDE gives best support to Symbian and provides the most comfortable environment for programming? I can use all versions of SDKs and i (believe) i can find all IDEs..
From my understanding, you cannot use that wizard in VS.NET.
Currently there is no specific app. wizard for VS.NET, but there is a Java-based wizard in Series 60 version 2.2. I use it for quite a while and it quite helpful. Just install the SDK and run it from Start menu, S60 SDK | Tools.
dont be sad:). wizard is really useless. Start from scratch or with any hello world exmaple and modify it in the way you need - view based app or without view implementations( more traditional "EIKON" way).
Note:
If you need good (but some times brain-washed) wizards, download BuilderX from Borland pages - it is free for commercial usage and has many wizards and WYSIWYG RAD environment.
