I am currently evaluating both IrMC and SyncML synchronization methods between two devices. As far as I understand, SyncML can only be used over a WAP connection and cannot be triggered by the server.
On the other hand, a IrMC server could always access the device information over OBEX.
Is this correct?
What levels of IrMC access do the Nokia 6310, 6310i and 7650 support? 3 (static indices) or 4 (sync)?
I thank you in advance!
Thierry
SyncML can be used over a dial-up PPP connection too. If you configure the RemoteSync app to use an Internet access point, it will automatically dial out whenever you start the app.
Also, I believe SyncML supports several protocols including OBEX.
SyncML also support server "driven sync". However, currently there is no devices on the market supporting this feature. May be in except newest CDMA phones based on Brew platform
