how to play m4v video files ???

how can we play ".m4v" video files on diff 3rd edition devices???

i have already gone thrugh this exp.Thanks For ur quick response. But i am afraid wheather u have got my exact point. I want to play this particular format on different devices. I couldnot play this file format by realplayer also.(on 3rd edition emulator).
i got kerrnotsupported....

Emulator might not have full support for different formats, anyway, to use native API, the device should support the format, i.e. it should have codes for playing that format. thus check for example www.S60.com for device specs on supported formats.

yah that is right , but i have tried on diff devices also . Also on differnt players including helixplayer (on n70). but helix is also unable to play this file format... but i have played this file through vlc on my pc.

So what i guess is it needs proper decoder. shall i have to make a custom decoder for that , or is their any 3rd party decoder available which can be used ... or i am missing some thing..

please suggest....

I can play .m4v files on N95 with no problems. I assume your file contains MPEG-4 video in MP4 file container? Check that the profile and levels used for MPEG-4 encoding are supported by S60 devices.

Yes you may be right. I have also seen in the doc that N95 supports following video formats

Video Formats  	3GPP formats (H.263), H.264/AVC, MPEG-4, RealVideo 7,8,9/10

But the file I have is a MPEG4 Part xx Level yyy file and I was not able to play this file on N95 with its inbuilt player.

But same file runs fine through Coreplayer on same device.

I think these people have write some decoders of their own for core player.

I need to know what is the stndard encode format for these files.

How to decode them....
