how to display "please wait..." when doing initialization or exiting

when doing initialization or exiting a MIDlet, it may take several minutes. how can I show an image like "please wait, initializing" or "please wait, exiting"
I guess there maybe some API for this. Because the phones often display this when we installing a program or doing other time consuming work.
or who can supply some examples for this?

Hi..

IMHO There is no API present to display please wait screen; the please wait animation have to be done with our own code.Once the startApp() is called we could use the canvas to display a please wait with some necessary animations.
Also while the case of exiting the app some please wait animation could be shown till all necessary operations(like record store saving)are carried out and destroyApp() is called; After destroy app is called we cannot display any please wait....

I suppose we cannot do any please wait animation in the case of HardExit.
