best platform for SMS application?

I want to write an SMS application. So far, I know of two choices for Nokia phones:

1. Build a Symbian C++ app for the Nokia 9200
2. Build a Java applet for Nokia 3410

The second option is not so good since I am in the US. The 9200 is a bit of an overkill for my application.

Are there any other options? Maybe Nokia has a proprietary development environment for its proprietary OS phones?

You can use for instance Java.

http://www.forum.nokia.com. There are some Java examples that you can use with the CIMD interface.
