Access to the image gallery

Hi,
I'm sorry if people have read this question on newlc but I haven't gotten a response so thought I would try here.

I am wondering if it is possible to access the phones image gallery from a Symbian application.

eg the application prompts the user to select an image from their gallery to be used in the application.

Is this possible and how could it be done? Would it matter if the images were stored on the phone or the mmc?
