Idle screen with home made progress bar

Hi all,

I am a newbie in Symbian world, so maybe my question is stupid.

I have an application that uses network to send data. When sending these data, i would like to put the application in background, and let the user do what he wants. But to inform the current state to the user, i would like a little progress bar (or somethingelse) in a corner of the idle screen.

I know how to put my app in background, but i do not know how to create the little window (or progress bar, or scroller-text, ...).

Have any suggestions ?

There is a good example code on drawing into the idle screen, that could also be implemented with servers.

I need your help , i am working on similar type of task .

I need to show desired screen for my phone's idle screen ,
i am planning to do this on seris 60 3rd edition over symbian os 9.1 handsets.

kindly suggest me some steps and concerned APIs
