The faceplate file is not intended to be modified in the Nokia J2ME emulator. Nokia will publish the emulators for every supported UIs.

The MIDP UI library implementation in the phone emulator assumes a fixed screen size that is not affected by settings in the faceplate file. For this reason, changing the bitmap screen dimensions in the faceplate will most definately cause the graphics and UI elements to display incorrectly in the emulator.
