Is there no way to control the backlight directly in series 60? I've searched, and read a lot of posts about backlight managment, but they all seem to reduce to a hack that keeps the backlight on through a "back door" (ResetInactivityTime) and I've found no way to turn it off. HAL::Set(EBacklightState, EFalse) does not work on a BRAND NEW V8.0 6680, nor does it work on any other phones I have access too, are there ANY phones that it does work on? I can't even find a way to determine if the backlight is on or off. (HAL::Get(EBacklightstate, val) also returns "KErrNotSupported")

Incidently, the ResetInactivityTime hack does not turn the backlight on if the keyboard is locked, just one of the reasons that hack is... I'll be kind, less than elegant...

As important as the backlight is to power managment and user interaction I simply can't belive there is no way to control it.

WILL SOMEBODY PLEASE TELL US HOW TO DIRECTLY MANAGE THE BACKLIGHT?

Ken, stuck at the moment with a lame UI.

    Hi!

when i am trying to on my backlight on my screen saver applcation using HAL

HAL::Set(HALData::EBacklightState,1) it returns KErrNotSupported and it is clearly mention in SDK it requried WriteDeviceData Capability that i have used in my mmp file.

can anyone help me whats the reason behind this.

It might be true, for example.
