    Hi,

as previously reported here: http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...t=RHttpSession and here: http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...t=RHttpSession, there seems to be a memory leak in RHTTPSession of the Series60 2nd. Ed. FP2, at least in the emulator.

the test case is easy: get the HTTP Client Example v1.0: http://www.forum.nokia.com/info/sw.n..._v1_0.zip.html, compile it, run it with Epoc32\wins{cw}\c\system\Bootdata\ErrRd in place.

You will get a thread panic: Alloc <Address> 0 if you run a successfull GET and then normally exit the application.

can someone please make an official statement regarding this? a 'jep, it's broken, we know it' would ease my memory leak nightmares a lot.

    thanks in advance,

    Thomas Jakobi

p.s.: this should be in the c++ section. sorry. maybe someone can move this thread?

edit: added the needed 'run successfull get and exit' instruction to the test case.

i'm not sure, but i think i read somewhere that this is a known issue - though i didn't find it in the S60 2nd platform errata docs...

i worked around this by creating mockups of the classes using RHTTPSession that didn't use http, but returned static data, that way i could de-memory-leak my application.

    still, this sucks.

Another solution is to use the beta version of the FP2 SDK. Everything works fine with this SDK but it may not be available any more..?

I can confirm however, that this is just an emulator problem. Code works fine on the device. At least for me

That is driving me crazy. How is that possible that no guru has experienced this issue and knows about it?

    Hi,

i'm not sure, but can you try and call "CloseSTDLIB()" (in libc/sys/reent.h) before destruction of your last class ? i'm not sure what did it, but i'm not seeing the memory leak anymore, and adding that call was the most obvious change i made...

on the other hand, i only tried it on series80, 2nd ed., where i think i saw the leak too, but it may well be this is bogus..

    fake
