Has anyone got OpenGL ES working on the S60 3rd Edition SDK Emulator ?

Mine just displays a white screen the whole time. The game was working on previous versions of the SDK. I now have everything compiling, linking, and running with Symbian 9/S60 3rd edition, and tHe game is running in the emulator, and all the texture loading and calls to opengl are working internally. It's just that nothing at all is ever presented on screen!!

Is this a known issue with the emulator ? Is there a work around ?

Has anybody got an opengl example or app rendering on the S60 3rd edition emulator ?

    Thanks!

    btw: I am using Visual Studio.net 2003 and Carbide.vs

I am having the same problem... And on the N71 device, about 10% of the time it works, other 90% it gives a white screen too.

You can get some details if you apply this: http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...ded_panic_code
It can easily happen that some files (textures) are not copied correctly if you use the emulator, in that case you will get -1, and it is independent from OpenGL support.

I m sure the emulator works on 3rd for open gl es, I tried the example in the SDK, and write some app for myself. But I think when porting from 2nd to 3rd, it s quite possible, as wizard said, unrelative with OpenGL, but something else. Check the examples in the SDK, especially the opengl-init part

A related question - does OpenGL ES 2.0 (EGL 2.0) work on this emulator, or Symbian S60 phones in general? Many of them have (PowerVR) chips that are said to be compatible, but on this site I have found little to support the position that it is in fact usable support for ES 2.0

    Hi,

I think your information source is incorrect. OpenGL ES 2.0 isn't available yet on Symbian devices or the emulator. The PowerVR MBX Lite (I think I got the name right but didn't look it up) accelerator in the OMAP chips doesn't support it, nor does the software renderer.

It will be available at some point in the future though, there are several hardware accelerators on the market now that do support this, I just don't think they've made it into phones yet.
