Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone else has attempted to "push out" the Nokia PC Suite using either Windows Group Policy or including the application on the PC before running RIPprep ?

Our environment consists of over 300 desktop PCs running Windows XP SP2 connecting to Windows 2003 servers.

We found that which ever way we attempted to automate the installation of Nokia PC Suite - we would come unstuck when the user first connects their handset. All workstations are "locked down" through group policy and users do not have administrative rights to the computers. (Who does these days in a large corporate environment??)
So, a users plugs in the USB cable connected to a Nokia 6230 handset and would be prompted for an adminstrative password to add the "new" device. Even though we've already connected a handset previously and all the HKLM registry keys are in place.

The surpising thing is that we ended up with one "lacky" running around installing the software manually (remember those days?). Once the software was manually installed and a handset connected to set up the device drivers again, any user could come along and plug in their handset with no problems. What's that about ?!

We are facing another large manual install project as soon as PC Suite 6.7 is released to fix the daylight saving bug.

What are other large corporates doing? Surely we are not the only organisation in the world to standardise on Nokia hardware and PC Suite software??

Any advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated !
