Send/Receive SMS using VB.NET

Hi Guys,

I've a requirement to Send/Receive SMS from my VB.NET Application. Someone recommended me to use Nokia USB Data Cable and the CD comes along with that and might find API, which talks to the NOKIA Phone and my application.

Before, I spend on Data Cable, can anyone of you have an experience on this. Please care to share the knowledge with me.

I'm looking for the cheapest solution without going through the SMS Solution Provider.

I havent done this myself, but ive curiously read other threads. Search for 'AT COMMANDS', these are commands you can pass from PC to Phone to execute functions on the phone. As for doing the implementation on VB.NET i can't help you on that one, sorry. Hope that gets you started!

may be you can use nokia type 8210 or 8250 for the ceapest cost and connect it using irDa, then you can download nokia pc connectivity 3.0 you can uset it without using AT command.

i have the same project as you are facing. and i have tried using above specs and it works. i also develop it under vb.net 2003

but if you are trying to develop massive auto sms (for receiving or sending message) than u must use GSM modem (it is about USD 200)

This is not very tough.u just have to include a component called MSComm into your form and then use At commands to send sms.My friends have developed a similar application in C#.It works almost the same way in VB.NET.
