    Hi,

I have opened the Messaging View from within my application, is it possible for me to add extra menu items to the SMS menu? Ive looked up on menu's and can create and dynamically change my own menus but i cant find any useful information that suggests i can modify the menu of an external view, i suppose that makes sense but it would make my life easier if i could :).

    So is it possible?

    Thanks,
    ViruDoshi

you can not modify menu of the external applications. You could though make new MTM that would include its options in standard places of the messaging application. For more information of MTM, see SDK docs, or download the example available in this forum.

Adding an arbitrary menu item to Messaging is not possible even when using native Symbian C++ code.

Which part of the "it is not possible" requires further explanation? The only related extension API was already mentioned in this thread, #2 from 3.5 years ago - actually you have had the chance to read it I think.

The devices usually support it, however I have not tried to send long messages from code.
Check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Short_m...e#Message_size about restrictions which can apply on the network side.
