6630 AT+CMGS works, +CPMS/+CMGR doesn't... please HELP!

Hello,

I'm trying to read SMS out of a nokia 6630 with the provided usb cable + hyperterminal. I have installed the latest firmware (v5) on the phone.

Sms sending works great, but I can't read them. It looks like I cannot select the SMS "bank" (sim/memory). Here's the at+cpms output:

AT+CPMS?
+CPMS: ,,,,,,,,
OK
AT+CPMS=?
+CPMS: (),(),()
OK

Please help!

Hi,

assuming that your phone is correctly connected, the PIN code has been inserted and SMS Message Center number is correctly configured on your phone, try:

ATZ<CR>
AT+CMGF=1<CR>
AT+CSCS="GSM"<CR>
AT+CMGS="<telephone number>"<CR><...sms text...><CTRL+Z>

where:
<CR> stands for carriage return
<CTRL+Z> Control+Z, (0x1A character)


No idea on how to read SMS? I think there must be an AT command to select the memory to use (internal or MMC Card), but I don't know what it is...

Surely there are commands to read SMS. You can select PDU or Text Mode fine surely you can read the SMS.

Almost every phone supports AT+CMGR but the 6630 d0esn't appear to. Do you need to put the phone into a particular mode first?

i am using nokia mobile phone 6230. The followings are the code that i try for sms:

ATZ
ok
AT+CMGF=1
ok
AT+CSCS="GSM"
ok
AT+CMGS="<0121234567>"<CR><...sms text...><CTRL+Z>
error

What causes this error response? Is it related to SMS Message Center Number?

Maybe... it works for me! are you able to send sms by using the phone only?

I've read that receiving SMS on 6630 via AT is impossible.

Having said that i can't even get mine to send anything. So I'm very curious as how you managed that? I just get ERROR on +CSMS ....

Nice phone, but quite a few bits lacking...

Hi All,
There is some issue with the 6630, sending SMS is ok with this phone, I could not receive/read any messages frmo this phone. I have set the message memory to "ME", "SM" and "TE" also. Nothing works. Please let me know if there is some workaround?

Please tell me how to send sms from the vb.net application.
command iam using is
AT+CMGF=1
it response ok
which iam reading and writting is like
serialport.write("AT+CMGF=1")
after getting the response in ok send sms command iam executing.
serialport.write("AT+CMGS=" & smstophone & Chr(13) & " Application Test SMS " & Chr(26))
But iam getting no response for that.
Please help.
