    Hi All,

We have a service (forward-locked, .dm, Symbian SIS file) that was launched a couple of weeks ago that users obtain by texting a keyword to a shortcode. This works fine.

However, the problem is on INSTALLATION for certain handsets ie 6630, 6670, 6680 and 7610. When the WAP download has completed the Auto-Installer is meant to execute and install the SIS file. This does not happen on these handsets. The screen just remains on a blank WAP, web page. On the N70, N90 and even the 6600 it all works fine. If someone can help me solve it for one handset, I think the solution will be very similar for the others.

What can I do to get it to install?

    Thanks in advance

It has been seen that some .SIS files donot work on certain handsets. The problem may be that they are specifically made for some MObiles or those mobiles are not Symbian POwered.
If the wap site isn't opening, it may be that the WAP Site isn't programmed correctly (it has errors). If it is yours try conervting it to xHTML langauge i.e. compatible with WAP 2.0.

Sorry, I am just curious. Why do you want to protect SIS file using forward lock mechanism?

After the users has installed the application, all the files (.app, .rsc, .aif) are stored on the phone (or memory card) unencrypted. So experienced users can still copy them to their friends.

    Thanks for the reply guys.

Antony, is there no way to protect the indvidual files then? Or is the application at the mercy of pirates?

    Thanks

There are some third party companies that are doing DRM protection for Symbian OS executable files (also for other files), e.g. Psiloc and OpenBit.
You can also "google" to find out more information.
