Root certificates

Is there any info on the Internet that says for every available phone which root certificates it supports (Verisign, Entrust, etc.)?

Not that I have found, nor it appears anyone else. I spent three days going through anything and everything on the web, a good blog with tons of info is David Hayes, google it adding signing as third keyword.

Oh, and one more thing, it looks like Nokia can put whatever certs they want on the device, but then the carrrier can also add, or remove, at will.

It's a bit stupid there is no decent info on this.
I can sign a MIDlet with a selfmade certificate though, so thats no problem.
But if I want to sell my app, then I have to obtain 1 (or more?) certificates from 1 (or more) signing companies (CA's). And that's where the problem lies.

I ofcourse want to buy only 1 certificate from 1 CA with which I sign my MIDlet and that will work for EVERY phone!
Is there 1 CA (like Verisign for example) that has its root certificate installed on every available phone (or at least the most widely used phones)?

Hi,

I think the Java Verified Program certificates (UTI certificates) are present in a lot of phones, but not in all phones, though. Anyway UTI certs are a good choice, e.g, almost all Siemens phones (newer ones) use them as the 3rd party certificate.

The nokia 6101 and 6102 from tmobile and cingular (as well as samsung t809, and x495 from tmobile), definitely, currently, dont accept a verisign signed midlet, nor do they allow a midlet to make any sort of network connections.

the user cannot even change the permission to allow the midlet internet access.

I asked forum nokia whats up, but they have not responded for more than a week.
