Keep Nokia 8210 IrDA ON....

Hello,everyone! I am a rookie in this forum.

First thing first,my question is: how can I keep my nokia 8210 IrDA on forever even no data transfer?

My Nokia 8210 has IrDA function.I connect my mobile phone with Linux box via IrDA.However,as the manual said,the IrDA of Nokia 8210 will be stopped if there are no data transfers within 2 minutes.However,I don't want to press the key again to keep my IrDA on again.How can I make my Nokia 8210 IrDA on forever except I stop it?

Hi dr_freak! Welcome To Nokia Discussion Boards!!

AFAIK you cannot switch on the IRDA forever. It will automaticaly switch off after a time out.

It's sad to hear that I cannot keep it up forever.However,I have a trick which I don't know if it works before I test it at home.What if,I send ping packets to the mobile phone via command prompt to keep it connected?If you issue a ping command,the mobile phone should be responded with acknowlegement.So,data is transferred->the connection will keep on.

Will my "thoery" work?
