After clicking deploy in Developer's Suite I got the following error message.
Connecting to Nokia 6310i (device: 1)...........
    Deploy the file test1.jad..
    Deploy the file test1.jar..
Deployment of the file test1.jar failed!
    Troubleshooting:
    - Is the connection to the device lost?
    - Make sure that you don't have a file with
the same name on your device already.
    Connection closed.

I don't have a file named test1.jar on the device, because this is my first deployment. And the connection isn't lost because in the select device area I have an active connection to my 6310i.
    Anyone knows what's wrong?

How big is the jar file? I've not been able to deploy anything bigger than 30k onto the phone. Also, if the jar file size in the MIDlet-Jar-Size property of the jad file isn't correct, this can cause problems.

I could only get the serial cable to work when deploying MIDlets on the 6310i. IR didn't seem to work at all, but I think that was the IR setup on my machine.

    Cheers,
    Steve

    Hi,

Nokia 6310i supports OTA downloads upto 30K.
6310i does not supports sending .jar and .jad files using IR connection.
Right ways to download MIDlets to 6310i are OTA download and IR and serial connections used together with NDS for J2ME toolkit's Deployment tool. This tool sends the files to the right folders.

    Regards,
    Ravi

You can deploy MIDlets (up to 30KB) to 6310i using one of the three methods:
    - Over-the-air
    - Serial cable
    - Infra-red

If your infrared connection didn't work, the most probable cause is that your file was too big. If that's not the case, the software on your phone might be too old.

Please note that 30KB is not the same as 30,000 bytes as the biggest jad I've been able to deploy is reported by the phone as 31KB (30,576 bytes)!

You can't fool the Application Manager by stating a smaller size in JAD.
