###Upgrading Firmware###

Man u all know when a new device released then it contains a lots of bugs. In case of Nokia phone is same. So if u can update ur firmware u can run ur mobile more smoothly. So i think this forum should include different lastest firmwares.

Lets share & keep our mibile up to date.

Oh one more thing I m using Nokia 6260 its frimware version is RM-25 v3.0448.0

I know the latest firmware version of this mobile is RM-25 v5.0536.0

can any one upload this for me & other 6260 user??

Zahid,

If you have problems with your device, you should visit a Nokia support center and ask them to upgrade the firmware there. Updating the firmware on Nokia devices requires special hardware and software.

I own a nokia 6260, V3.0452.0ch 20-12-04, rm 25.
i know the latest firmware is RM-25 v5.0536.0.
can anyone plz tell me if there are any major changes, especially the MP3 part,
does it have BASS in the sound after flashing. my warranty is over i dont wanna pay simply for some other upgrades, Please all those who upgraded their firmware share the
new add on.

Hi, I have contacted Malaysia Nokia Authorised Service Centre (ASC), unfortunately I have told no such software for model Nokia 5140i in our country. But I have checked through all the web forum the found the latest software is NOKIA 5140i V3.75 dated 2006-02-15.

My current software is v3.34 dated 02-06-05 RM-104, please advice where i can get the latest firmware and fix up all the bugs.

Can someone please point me to an official page explaining why nokia decided to forbid the users from upgrading the firmware themselves?

I don't know if it has been explicitely forbidden anywhere, but Nokia itself is surely not distributing firmware files generally either to users/consumers (and if someone else does it, they do it illegally as they have no redistribution rights for Nokia copyrighted content which means they are breaking laws).

The only way Nokia allows users to upgrade the firmware explicitely, is via http://europe.nokia.com/softwareupdate (which doesn't include all models), or with some models also over-the-air/OTA (where the Nokia Software Update application for PCs can be said to be over-the-Internet/OTI).

In addition, as mentioned, the authorized Nokia service/repair centers can - of course - do it, too (as they have the required equipment, software and access to firmware files + the training and support from Nokia to do so).

Me neither but since i couldn't find anything on Nokia's site and after reading this thread, i assumed that Nokia decided to prohibit users from updating their firmware themselves. I hadn't noticed http://europe.nokia.com/softwareupdate, (which hopefully will include more phones and downgrading in case of problems in the near future). Thanks for the link.
