Any way of an application reading an sms from phone?

I want to build an application that can read content from sms that's in the phone and use the content...is there any way to achieve that? Any help is appreciated b'coz i'm quite new in this field...thanx

Oh man,

I'm C++ programmer and J2ME newbie... Basically as I know MIDP 2.0 and CLDC 1.1 hasn't any possibility ot access SMS, but on Symbian is collection of additional JSR supported... I found interesting document with some Series 40 features...
