    Hi

    Thanks for reading this. Basically I need to know if its possible to send operator logos and other graphical items as 7-bit. The reason I ask this is I have a conversion function that converts 8-bit text header messages to 7-bit - this appears fine with vCards and vCalendars but when I try and convert an operator logo to 7-bit and then back to 8-bit the data is not the same as it originally started out. Is it ever likely to happen that an operator logo is sent as a 7-bit text header style message ?. Here are the two messages - 8-bit first and then the converted to 7-bit one:

    50 //UDL
    2F2F53434B4C3135 //Text header
    383230303030
    20 // Text Header delimiter

    30 //Version No.
    1234 //MCC
    12 //MNC
    0A //Line feed char
    00 //InfoField
    200e01 //Width, Height, depth
    FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF //32x14 logo
    0000000000000000
    FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
    0000000000000000
    FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
    0000000000000000
    FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
    ;

    50 // UDL
    AFD774B864C66A38190C // 7-bit encoded data
    06838160129A44010039
    02FFFFFFFFFFFFFF0000
    0000000000FFFFFFFFFF
    FFFF00000000000000FF
    FFFFFFFFFFFF00000000
    000000FFFFFFFFFFFFFF;

    Any help or information will be grately appreciated

    Regards

    Dave

    Have a look at Nokia's Smart Message spec 3.0.0 under The Forums messaging and CIMD sections.

    There is a text form that works on some devices using a text not UDH header //SCKL ......

    sorry about the long delay, busy

    look in section 5.1.2.2, of the 3.0.0 spec it shows the format. If you look at the stdma_sm.pdf (look under forum nokia, smart messaging this shows how its done using 7 bit), the old docs from last year seem to have gone now.

    good luck
