Triband phone abroad

Hi, I have a nokia 6230 which I know is triband, so it works in the USA. I am going on holiday to the dominican republic, and was just wondering if the phone will work there too? Im not sure if that counts as the same region as America....
Can anyone clarify for me please?

the best person to answer this would be your phone service provider. I would call them up and ask them about rates and roaming costs.
