Device Model Naming

Hi,
This question may be crazy one........but i very much eager to know.........Is it manufacturing companies are following any naming standards when they are releasing new models..........
For example Nokia has many names 7210,6600 etc...........From this names is it possible to tell which one had come first and having more features etc......or atleast can we predict which one is series 40 or sereis 60..............

New models are based on different categories

Nokia names the devices based on the different categories that the phone belongs to:

1xxx basic
2xxx basic expression
3xxx youth expression
4xxx not existing due to azian language
5xxx active
6xxx classic bussiness
7xxx fashion/experimental
8xxx design and premium
9xxx communicator series

N-series High-end Multimedia Smartphones
E-series High-end Business Smartphones
N-gage Gaming phones

Based on this information there might be some things that you can conclude if you hear a certain model number.

Great list, is that specified in a Nokia strategy doc somewhere, I've been searching for ages.
Do the following two/three digits mean anything? And what about the 'i' that appears on some phones?

I´m not sure if they have such document...I just had the list saved as a text document on my PC after finding it via Google sometime in the past :P

The "i" is usually put in after the model to notify that it is an upgraded variant of the original model.

5140 -> 5140i (better display)
6230 -> 6230i (added 1,3MP camera, new version of OS)
9300 -> 9300i (added WLAN)

etc....
