How to read sms ?

I am new to sms application development. I might be asking the question in the wrong forum, but please direct me to the right answers. My questions are :

Is it possible to read and send sms from wml code ? Is wap push the only way to semd sms, mms ? If through the wml I want to read /send sms, then how can I do it? Also is it possible to access the images stored in the camera phone with wml ? I know that we can use J2ME for the camera access, but what other options are there ?

wml is a markup language. Please dig into java or c++ to access phone and network capabilites.
