For those who are worrying about going to a Nokia care center to update the phone software of your Nokia device, here is the solution.
    Phone software update
    http://www.nokia.co.uk/softwareupdate

I have seen that currently only a limited set of device's phone software are available for update like N70, N72, 6131, 6630 etc. Hope more devices will be added to the list.
Looking forward to update the software of my N90!

    Regards
    Gopal

    Hi Gopal,

Great news! I've been waiting for that, Nokia now has the same update option (do yourself) as Siemens/BenQ

    you got the point Gopal

"phone dies" case in FAQ - there is some risk in that way of update but I guess that's something not happening quite frequently

    regards,

Yep! Ofcourse its a great news and for me it was much awaited! :-)

Imm, there is a chance that phone may die during update as mentioned in FAQ. The same is the case with BenQ-Siemens phones too. I have done several phone software updates for my different BenQ-Siemens devices, but luckiely no one died till now . But I do remember one of my friend telling that his Siemens S65 died while he was doing an update. So I guess we have to be little cautious while updating!

    Regards
    Gopal

    hi all,
    works smooth for me,
I want to note another thing:
really decent sample of small UI for small work, nice design, softly shaped focus indicators, large white space in GUI, splash screen and progress bar from devices/osx.
UI Team: great work sample in small tool
    regards,
    Peter

    Hi,

I will give it a try now. I happen to have one Nokia 6681 here which deserves an update

So, let's go for it. I hope it won't die, ha, ha...just kidding. I will take all the necessary precautions as per FAQ, of course

    BR,

    Juarez Junior

God damned tool. All the nokia sites have links to version 1.0.86. But to update my nokia E60 i need v1.0.88 and there's no way to download it but using nokia updater itself. It tries to download the "update" i.e. version 1.0.88 via SSL, but each time drops the download process at some point. During this "updating the update" it just downloads NokiaSoftwareUpdaterSetup_1.0.88en.exe to Temp directory. And because of this "feature" i've spent a lot of traffic trying to get v1.0.88, because v1.0.86 just can't see E60.

    Hi,

I'm not sure I understand the problem if it downloads NokiaSoftwareUpdaterSetup_1.0.88en.exe where is the problem?

Anyway you can probably get better help on the firmware updates on the Nokia Users discussion board http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/. Forum Nokia does not handle the firmware updates

    Hope this link helps,

    Ron

    Hi,
I presume that you are using the latest version of PC Suite. This was my problem when I used the N95 update software. You must be able to transfer files from PC to phone and back successfully for the updater to work. Bluetooth hangs so you need to use the Nokia cable connection and have to charger plugged in.
Some countries firmware phone ID is not recognised
