which sdk suits a new symbianeer C++ programmer

i am an engineering student...i know C,C++ and java...i want to start reading Symbian OS for my project...i downloaded certain sdks...but it requires Microsoft Visual C++.NET 2003 or CodeWarrior IDE..Please tell me which sdk suits Carbide C++ IDE and Visual C++ 6.0 for a new developer like me.. then my project is all about how to compress data in mobile phones...can anyone help me about how to start with or some ideas about the feasibility of this project..may be about where i can get relevant details....please help this budding symbianeer...

You can find S60 1st and 2nd edition SDKs (up to S60 2nd edition FP2) supporting Visual Studio 6, they name ends and/or contains MSB (for Microsoft, Borland) or NET (although the name suggests that they require VS.Net, they also support VS6).
Carbide supports the CodeWarrior-specific SDKs (perhaps this is the right choice for you as you have already downloaded some CW-SDK).
