Simulating signed application

We are developing a J2ME application doing a SMS send/receive. In order to prevent confirmation messages we will eventually need to sign it.
My question is: How can we simulate a handset – or development environment (for development and testing purposes) so the application appeared to be signed. – is there “certification free” device?

Regarding Series 40 emulators(2nd and 3rd Ed), I remember there was some settings in the emulator(Tools => Preference => MIDP) to make the app trusted so that we can run it on emulator as trusted with out signing. But in order to test your app in real device you have to sign it.

AFAIK, there is no Signing free device.
Regarding signing here are some links that might be of some interest to you.
Some S60 phones do support self Signing.
