Carl Zeiss f/2.9 35mm (equivalent) autofocus lens and 2.1 megapixel (1600×1200) sensorhttp://www.the-gadgeteer.com/review/nokia_n90Based on the EXIF data of all the images, it appears that the N90’s camera has a fixed aperture of f/2.9, sensitivity from at least ISO 250 to 1000, and shutter speeds from at least 1/8 to 1/2500. According to the manufacturer’s specs, it focuses down to 10cm.

One way:
The actual focal length is 5.5 mm the specs say this is "equavalent" to 35 mm on a 35 mm camera, so the sensor size is 0.157143 times the size of a 35 mm frame. Of course the aspect ratio might be a little different.
Another way:
Knowing the lens is 5.5 mm, you could measure the Field Of View and work backwards to get the sensor size.

Thank you for your fast replies, but I still don't get it![]()
So, it is possible to calculate the size of the chip? how exactly? Are there any great tutorials about the relations between field of view, focal length, aperatures and the image sensor size? I have tried for the whole day to understand how it is done but I don't quite understand. Especially, what does it relly mean to have a focal length of 5.5mm (35mm equivalent 35mm)?
Thank you for your time. I really appreciate your help.
The 35mm frame is 24 × 36 mm multiply that by 0.157143 and you get the sensor size of the N90, which must be close to: 3.77 mm X 5.65 mm unless the aspect ratio of the images produced by the N90 is very much different from the 35 mm frame.
The field of view can be calculated (or looked up for a 35 mm lens) by using information you can find at:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angle_of_view
