Record sound on S40 3rd edition device

Hey everybody :-)

Does anyone know whether it is possible to record audio on S40 3. edition devices? I don't have a phone I can test it on... I know that 2. edition phones can't (or at least thats what I have read, hmm) - so does anyone know?

however I wondering if something could changed with latest 3rdEdFP1 devices like updated 8800 device:

because latest S403rdEdFp1 devices added some new features to audio capabilities:

Well, at least it looks like it will be supported in their new s60 3rd edition platform in the future, so thats always a start...
