I have 3220 using as modem.
I cant use one touch as i dont know where to type *99# to dial.

I have heard that gprs speed decreases lograthimcally away from base tower. I do not get full tower on my cell. Is there any physical or any other way to increase signal strength.

With PC Suite and its "One Touch" feature to connect to the Internet, you don't need to enter/type the *99# anywhere (PC Suite does it automatically). Latest PC Suite version on http://www.nokia.com/pcsuite (in case you have an older version).

You could, of course, just define your phone as a "regular" dial-up modem and then define the number to dial as *99# or *99***1# which is the same thing.

I am entering weak ground here, as it has been long since I last read anything about the radio interface of phones. My recollection is that the device itself varies the transmission power depending of the signal quality. If the connection is great (like the phone is close to a base station) the phone uses less power for transmitting stuff. If the signal is worse, more power is used (you can also see this in real life, the battery runs out juice faster, when you have bad base station connectivity).

I think there are some external antennas you can attach, check for example

    Hope this helps,

I love to do some modding, though I am a novice.
*33370# does not work on my 3220.
Can u suggest me some home made stuff. Signal reception is very good near window, but since my pc is away from my window, i need some type of booster.

I read somewhere that keeping cell backside-up , increases signal reception.
    Am I right.
