Bluetooth sockets and permissions

Hello there,

Well, I'm trying ot develop a simple bluetooth client application. It will run on my Nokia 6682 (S60) handset from Cingular. The application will connect to a PC over bluetooth - thats it! I tried to write it in JAVA but It looks like I have to have a code signing certificate to get it working. Without certificate, JAVA will deny access to bluetooth functions.

Now, being very new to the area, I need to know whether I will have the same problem if I develop the client in C++ (.sis file) ? Keep in mind that I have a cingular handset, which does not allow me to use self-signed certificates.

I have developed a client server application, which does mobile to pc communication over bluetooth RFCOMM sockets.

See the device you mentioned uses S60 2nd Edition, Feature Pack 2
Developer Platform and Symbian OS v8.0a Operating System.

So you will not face such issue in that, as i have already done this.

So in symbian, start with BTPointToPoint example as a starting point.
It is located in C:\symbian\8.0a\S60_2nd_FP2\Series60Ex\btpointtopoint

And do not forget to install S60 2nd Edition, Feature Pack 2
