Unable to find the appication in Phone application menu.

Hi ,

I have created a .sis from .exe file. I have installed this .sis file into N70 phone. At the time of installation, it is saying 'Application is installed successfully'. But I am unable to find the application in Phone menu's anywhere. Even I am not getting any messages in inbox at the time of installation.

I tried to reinstall the applction many times. For every reinstallation its asking for the updation of previous version of application.

But I can see this application in Tools->Manager menu (for deleting this application).

Please help me out.

Hi!

On N70, you should install the corresponding AIF file, as you can read in the SDK doc. (For ex., see the HelloWorld example). If you have the AIF, do not forget to copy it to the device with the installer (see the .pkg file.)

some files must be missing. One way is to compare with the SDK sample, or you can post your pkg file here, then others can help to take a look.

Actually I have taken the example GlassTerm. First I have created .exe file with Carbide C++ editor and created .sis file manually by using above .pkg file.

Please help me out.

From your pkg file, it seems that your program is a server other than a application.
In Symbian application, the extension is app other than exe. So you should have a app file and a aif file at least for your application to show a icon in the application list.

Donot know what kind of applications you are developing, but at least *.map file is not needed.

Actually I am able to run .exe file on emulator. So as to run this on device I am creating .sis with this .pkg file. Even I am facing the same problem after includin the .aif file.

Is my approach wrong?

Are you using the correct SDK? For N70, you will need for ex. S60 2nd ed. FP3 SDK, however, if you say that your .exe runs on emulator, I suppose you are using 3rd edition.

You might want to check your installed sdk's with the "devices" command.

从他的PKG文件来看他用的应该不是第3版的SDK。你的Exe只是一个服务而已，不会有图标的。

To make sure your application can run on device, you can use File Explorer, and go to Ce\system\apps\GlassTerm\GlassTerm.exe, and click to see whether it can launch or not. If your application can launch properly, then no file is missing.
