In one of my my new projects, it's required to get the NMR by the phone. I'm new to mobile phone applications. I'm not sure it's possible to retrive NMR which receive from the Base stations. what i need to do is write a java application to get the NMR and do some processes. could somebody help me on tat. What i really want to know is the feasibility of such a operation in java mobile programming platform(could it be possible to retrive NMR by executing a java application).

    thanks a lot in advance

What is NMR? If you mean phone number, that is not available on the phone.

Presumably in this case NMR = Network Measurement Results (the power/strength of the signal received by the phone from adjacent cells).

I don't think that there's any kind of Java (J2ME) API for this.

Maybe possible in C++ using a Symbian based device (and through unpublished/private APIs, most likely, rather than anything published in SDKs generally available).

stmichael161, does it have to be Nokia? RIM exposes signal strength, though I think requires RIM signing.

Sorry abt the misinterrpetation of NMR, yes it's network measurement report. what ireally interested is signal strength, thequality etc. if there ain't any java api to do so how it's possible do to such thing. isn't there any path to do that. i can get that by using some other hardware modules, but in this case i only can use mobile phone.
