Hi,
I am developing an application in s60 platform, which will show cell id using GetNetworkInfo(). Is there any signing process is needed to my application to work in actual device. If any body developed this like application please guide me.

hi,

If you are working on sdk's - 7.x , 8.x then you dont need any signing process.you require signing for 9.x.

I have already posted the topic for fetcing network parameters (cell id, MCC,MNC,Network provider etc ) and location name.

I am using carbide c++ 1.1 (dev). My sdk is S60 V2.1 CW. I am devoloping a cell id fetching application in this environment. So is any signing process is needed for my application to run on actual device.

My application is not running in emulator. while I am fetching cellid using GetNetworkInfo(), the "program is closed" message appears. when I comment this line applciation will running in emulator without error. But I want the cell id to work.

If anybody knows pls reply

hi,

I cannot tell about carbide as i am not using carbide, but as far as running application on emulator is concerned, i have already tested it and it gives null in emulator as emulator does not have that hardware support.

But your application should atleast run, giving the cell id as null.
If you are not getting any errors then you should install and check in your device by displaying the cell id or by writing it into a file.

As i said before S60 2.1 does not require signing so be relaxed. And there is no problem in using location API. I have already used it.

It works fine in my case with THUMB , But i cannot tell about ARMI.

Hello dear,

Both are used to generate instrcution set for ARM processor.
While THUMB in nature results smaller code compare to ARMI and may be slower.
