S60 3rd UI Porting Problems

I am porting a UI to S60 3rd. I ported the user interface code "as is" and I experience weird problems, different problems on different devices:
N80 - in one of the themes only (Nokia theme), labels in a list remain invisible until the list selector lands on them

N73/E61 -
* scrolling up and down a list, each row I pass stays highlighted, as if the selector is still on it
* when I switch from one view to another, the previous view is still in the background trashing the current view

anyone run into similar problems ?

Try putting BaseConstructL(EAknEnableSkin) in your AppUi.
