I had the same detection sdk problem with carbide.vs so I tried to install it in "Windows XP compatibility" mode and everything worked fined !!
You right click on carbide_vs_201.exe to change compatibility mode.
My gues is it's a problem with the new user directory path "c:\user" instead of "c:\documents and settings"
carbide.c++ 1.2 & windows vista ultimate aero enabled
it works, even the aero interface not switched in vista ultimate during ui design
just download Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 3
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
install it,
copy jre1.6.0_03 folder from X:\Program Files\Java\ to X:\Program Files\Nokia\Carbide.c++ v1.2
rename jre folder in X:\Program Files\Nokia\Carbide.c++ v1.2 to jre-5 for backup
rename jre1.6.0_03 to jre
try it
