Access Permission

Hi,

Finnaly i got my AddressBook Updation Application working...

but

when i start my application it ask me every time about

Allow Application to edit and add new Data in:Contacts

i check my application access -->Phone Access-->Add and Edit Data midlet option ....

There are four option

Ask Every time
Ask first time only
Always allowed
Not Allowed


i got only first and last option enable ....

i want to ask the permission only for the first time i.e i want to select second option...but it is disable

Any help Please...

i have the same issue. i emailed to sun people they said get ur midlet signed and the other options will be enabled and if that doesnt work ask Nokia.

so i thought i better ask here before getting a certificate. so guys will signing midlet enable the other two options.

well there are thosands of post here on how to sign ur midlet just give it a search on Nokia forum

however big question is will it solve our problem. because siging midlte would require a certificate from verisin or thawte and it will cost as well u know.

1) Create a RSA key with keytool like:
keytool -genkey -keyalg RSA .....
2) Self certificate the key:
keytool -selfcert .....
3) Export self certified key:
keytool -export -file some.cer .....
4) Send this some.cer to device, save it and adjust trust settings

but when i see my certificate it shows something like

The CA root certificate is not trusted. To enable trust install this cartificate in trusted root certification Authorities store


i can not understand what it was ?....

and what is the furhter process for getting midlet sign one.....

Yes, except on some phones customized to a specific operators (for example Cingular), which might not have the blanket access available as an option or might have some other limitations for untrusted and trusted 3rd party midlets.

i follow this step given above

and i got one certificate file called some.cer
i got this file in JDK1.5.0_06/bin

now when i simply open it in my computer

a small window of certificate opens..and there are three tabs in it....


On the first tab General

It shows me something like this

"The CA root certificate is not trusted. To enable trust install this cartificate in trusted root certification Authorities store"

i can not understand what it was ?....
what is trusted root certification Authorities store ?....

and what is the furhter process for getting midlet sign one.....

Does it cost anything for midlet sign?....


please help me ,i am too confuse about the whole midlet sign process

because without midlet sign my application is useless....
