That was posted many times on Java section (countless) and if I'm correct never answered:
how to configure network connection for use with S60 2nd ED SDK?
I've that problem myself (with S602ndEdFP2 SDK) and finally I've simply gave up and been doing networks tests via S603rdED SDK - which requires no configuration I think, it just works,

if someone from FN dev-team could do fresh S602ndED isntallation on WinXP (most popular) and perform ethernet configuration writing down remarks about possible gotchas it would be really helpful,
